Assignment 5

For the final assignment I am going to do option 4 as out if all the modules this is the one I enjoyed most. I have decided that I am going to do a self portrait so I will do all the exercises using me as the subject, which will also serve as perpetration to the final piece.

Rethink of final assignment

OK, so I’ve realised that recreating the kiss might be a bit too adventurous for me, but I may still use some themes from Gustav Klimt, possibly the use of circles / swirls and silver leaf, but I will see how my studies progress. I will be doing a self portrait though, as I am a model readily available.

Grayson Perry’s Tapestries

Just finished watching the Grayson Perry 3 part series “In the best possible taste” on Channel 4. I really like his style and found his sketches working up to his tapestry designs quite interesting. Here is a link to information about the exhibition The Vanity of Small Differences which I would really like to see.

The Kiss – a close up view

A closeup of the heads.

A close up of the heads. This is what I want to concentrate on for my final assignment. I also want to kep some of Klimt’s themes too, such as a circles and squares. I will experiment with my head being in a circle, but I would also like to continue the masculine male squares and the feminine  curves and circles.

Below are closeups of the female’s bottom half where she is kneeling. I like the raised surface and the use of gold. I will definitely be getting the gold leaf out to experiment for this one!

The female’s feet.
